Great Asian food and service! Amy and the staff really treat you well, they'll remember you after going only once. I love the sushi & Chinese. I usually order the seafood sunonomo, sushi & the green salad with a delicious peanut dressing, but everything is good here. Once when I was eating lunch here the health inspector came to audit the place & she stayed and had lunch too! That says a lot. Next time you're downtown Glenwood give JH Chen a try.

The only place for Japanese food we found open in Glenwood Springs. Very simple restaurant. If you'd like to remember the chinese restaurants you went to with your parents in the 80's, JH Chen will bring you back. The kitten statues and unfortunate use of pastels will remind you of all cheesiness of any standard 1980's chinese restaurant. Though, to stick with the times they have sushi on the menu, which was actually better than expected.

Inside dining room a bit bare. Fair wait service. Food was ok to good. Nothing special.

I've never ordered anything but sushi from these guys and surprisingly, for a restaurant that also serves typical chinese/american dishes, it's INCREDIBLE. I will say the simpler you go the better. Personally not a fan of all the sauces on complicated rolls from any place, but if you're in the mood for authentic I would recommend the tuna and salmon rolls. The service may come off as cold, but don't take offense as I have been a regular customer for a while and would chalk it up to a cultural difference. Those two ladies in there work VERY hard, and I leave them a hefty tip just about every time I go.

Ordered Mu Shi pork, Thai chicken fried rice, and Oriental Chicken Salad for takeout. The atmosphere was classy and service seemed to be on the right track for the dine ins so we may try that next time. I would probably give this a 5 star if the meats were flavored a bit more but the sauces and everything else were delicious and made you wanting more. See ya next time.

We went for the lunch special. 795 for entree, rice, and soup or roll. It was delicious and a generous serving. They use all white meat in all their dishes. I got the sesame chicken, fried and sauced perfectly, and they didn't hide the unsavory bits of chicken in the breading like a lot of Chinese restaurants do. Egg drop soup was awesome. Boyfriend got Yu-Shan chicken, recommended by our server, also damn delicious. Service quick, in and out!

My spouse & I ate here for lunch last week. It took a long time to get service after being seated because there was only one server on staff. This was around 1pm on a weekday. I almost suggested we leave before the server finally arrived. I had some delicious wonton soup & sesame chicken that came out very quickly. My husband had really good California rolls. The food was good, but we would be wary about returning due to the slow service.

Great for lunch or dinner, best place for sushi in Glenwood Springs in my humble opinion. But NOT for families with little kids: this is not the best place for toddlers and preschoolers. Definitely more of a quiet place for adult dining, and not for large groups. A perfect place for a lunch date or a date night.

Overpriced (2 of us shared a Pu Pu platter and ended up paying $20 for it), tastes OK (shrimp toasts on the platter are the best thing). Overall a pretty nice Chinese restaurant for a small town. Looks very clean and service was fairly good.

My family went to dinner last night. I have three small kids (6 years old, 4 years old and 2 years old). We went with the Shrimp Tempura, Cashew Chicken an Mongolian Beef. All the meals were excellent. Just be aware they give you little rice bowls and if you ask for more than they charge you an extra dollar per extra rice. They forgot to mention that when we asked for more but I can understand an additional price for it. The restaurant is small and unfortunately my kids are loud so we felt a little bad for being noisier than most tables. The service was fine but I get the feeling they are not use to hosting families as a normal course of business. Overall the meal was great and worth every penny. I would recommend dinner here for good Chinese food. Thanks.

I thought it was a bit overpriced here. Everything cost a few dollars too much. Standard Chinese fare. I like the food and prices more at Taipei Tokyo... maybe I should do lunch here instead.

I like their $8 lunch special that comes with soup & an egg roll. It does get way more expensive for dinner sizes.

Quaint, delightful little place in Glenwood Springs. It's off the main strip, which makes for a nice getaway from the touristy feel. My server was so kind and paid me great attention. I'd definitely go back! Oh, and the $7.75 sushi lunch is awesome!

OK this place is nice. Great attention to the customers. Quiet atmosphere and comfortable seating. Yes the Sushi is very good with a good variety. Their sweet and sour soup is distinguishable. Much better than most. The best is the Peking Duck. It is served in a traditional manner with dumplings, scallions, cucumbers and homemade Hoisin sauce. I will order this again!

I have had dinner at JH Chen several times and it's always fresh and good. They offer a decent selection of Asian fare, including sushi. This time I had my boys with (of course) and they absolutely loved it! We ordered General Tao's chicken, pork with broccoli and terryaki chicken (the last two were my sons' choices). For an appetizer we had two orders of Chinese dumplings. The dumplings were huge and good (if a bit doughy) and disappeared in a moment. The entrees were also prepared well and flavorful. The chicken in the General Tao's chicken was so tender and delicious. Service was friendly as well.

I would give J H Chen only one star for their icky icky spicy tuna roll I got for lunch last week, but I've had their (cooked) food before and it's not that bad - it's passable, for mediocre Chinese in a small town. I would say, make sure to go to Zheng's if you've got the time. If you must eat here, don't get the sushi, especially the tuna. I'm not sure what I ate, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't tuna!! Yuck.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
